Walking and Talking Chippendale / Cool in the City
Small and smart, the Sydney Architecture Festival walking tours will show you details of Chippendale and surrounds you might never have thought to look at and will reveal stories about its architecture you might never otherwise hear. This tour takes a look at some of the stories that make Chippendale unique, particularly how this suburb is taking active measures toward sustainable, green living. Starting with a tour of the adaptive reuse of The Old Clare Hotel by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, along with an exploration of the old brewery, this tour will also include a visit to Sydney’s Sustainable House created by the resident Michael Mobbs. Mobbs’ will lead the tour through his off-grid home that has solar panels providing electricity and running water sourced from inbuilt rainwater tanks.
