Tom Rivard

Tom Rivard is an urbanist, artist and educator, engaged in speculative city making. He founded Lean Productions, a multi-disciplinary creative practice, was head of urban design at McGregor Coxall, and is now leading the Sydney outpost of Realm Studios, working on integrating habitats, communities and ecologies in the face of global transformations.

Tom founded Urban Islands, the global cities workshop, and teaches regularly here and there. He is conducting PhD research exploring civic space and urban society through narratives of interdependence. His diverse interests in global cities, culture and environment has recently taken him to a range of diverse places such as Climate Reality in LA, Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert and a coastal mountainside outside of SF creating a new model for settlement, based on radical co-existence.
